Solutions to the toroidal slitherlink

These are the solutions to the puzzle posted at An even more difficult slitherlink (I think) and updated at Updated Slitherlink — and an explanation about inside vs. outside for toroidal slitherlinks and further updated with A completely unique solution

You should try the puzzle first…really, I’m happy to wait…

You’ll feel better if you try the puzzle first.

Okay, fine, here’s the solution:

First, the non-inside/outside solution from Thomas Snyder, world-class puzzler:

The yellow sections show where this is not unique. The one around the “2” has been fixed with the updated puzzle. The other two remain as weaknesses in the solution.

Here is the solution I designed it for. It’s an inside/outside solution (if you don’t know what that is, read the description here).

This is (I believe) the only inside/outside solution to the puzzle. I’d be happier if it were completely unique, but I’ll accept it as it is. I like the fact that the inside/outside aspect contributes so much to the solution (because there are sections that can only be connected one way, forcing the coloring of the squares between them) and adding further numbers to rule out the non-inside/outside solution would likely give away too much for that.
